Being part of the Slow Fashion Movement Learning Lab has shown me that across cultures, shared values of care, respect, and sustainability connect us.
This space reaffirmed that fashion goes beyond aesthetics— it’s a global language rooted in intention, storytelling, and community, with the power to reshape the industry from within.
Dareliz Giselle- SFM Learning Lab Intern
The best part about the SFM Learning Lab cohort was to collaboratively work with people from diverse backgrounds across the globe.
It helped me build not only academic skills, but also essential professional values such as adaptability, effective communication, and respect for others’ time.
The program strengthened my skills in time and crisis management, research, writing, and collaborative design, learnings I value deeply as I prepare to enter the professional world.
Gaining this exposure so early in life made the experience especially meaningful.
My favourite session was our 4th Masterclass on 'Best Practices in Research-Based Journalism for New Media;' by Jackie May.
Journalism deeply interests me as it blends storytelling, communication, consumer psychology, and branding.
Her insights on the future of journalism in the age of AI were particularly engaging and strongly aligned with my aspiration to pursue Fashion PR.
Overall, the Learning Lab has positively shaped my approach to teamwork, research, and my future career goals, and I’m grateful to have been part of this cohort.
Shreeya Mishra -SFM Learning Lab Intern
As an intern at the first cohort of Slow Fashion Movement Learning Lab, It has been an immense learning experience for me working with people from all around the world and from all walks of life.
The masterclasses conducted, ranging from dealing with negativity to the nuances of microplastic pollution and breaking into fashion industry widened by perspective and gave me novel insights about fashion and sustainability.
Moreover the research project that I worked on gave me a deeper understanding on sustainability reporting, especially from the lens of luxury fashion houses.
Overall it's been a short but perceptive journey into conscious and ethical consumption, in both technical and as well as soft skill perspective.

We had Masterclasses which created a learning environment which was supportive and reflective, allowing space for research, dialogue, and personal growth.
This internship has had a lasting influence on my approach to fashion design and strengthened my commitment to sustainable and culturally grounded practices.

My name is Nami, or Savitree Soontornvivat, and I am based in Melbourne. Being part of the Learning Lab has been a genuinely meaningful experience.
The masterclasses were not only inspiring and practical, but they also encouraged deeper reflection on the fashion industry.
It was also great to meet and work with people who share the same interest in sustainable fashion and to learn from each other’s perspectives.
One of my favorite masterclasses was Fashion Psychology and Behavior with Liz, which was eye opening and helped me better understand why people connect with fashion in the ways that they do. Overall, the program was very insightful, and I am really glad I joined it.

Liz Mudri - SFM Learning Lab Mentor
At the Slow Fashion Movement Learning Lab, we are moving beyond incremental change to fundamentally rewire fashion’s DNA.
My role as Co-Program Manager is dedicated to bridging the gap between fashion psychology, climate science, and social equity—equipping the next generation of radical changemakers with the tools to disrupt the status quo.
We have built a global ecosystem where research translates into immediate action.
We believe that fixing the value chain requires more than just 'better' products; it requires a paradigm shift in how we think, produce, and coexist.
Together, we are building the blueprint for a truly regenerative and equitable industry.
